Westminster Forensic Science commissioners highlight forensics miscarriage of justice failures to House of Lords committee

On 14 November, commissioners from the recent Westminster Commission on Forensic Science, launched by the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Miscarriages of Justice, spoke in the House of Lords about their findings ahead of a new Lords inquiry.

Professor Angela Galop and Professor Carole McCartney told the House of Lords Science and Technology Committee that forensic science currently isn’t working for anyone – not the police, not the courts, not lawyers. Their recent report, Forensic Science in England and Wales: Pulling out of the Graveyard Spiral, and their expertise provided to the committee, will inform a new inquiry into forensic science provision.
